The Problem
Change is a moving train, you either on it fully - or you need to get off!
The app was hitting Google and Apple store as the number 1 Downloaded app in South Africa, the branch experiences we levelled up to match, but our banking cards weren't up to scratch! We set out to build a card that demonstrated Capitec's future and it growth to be a s

The Process
As in all UX outcomes, its never as simple as just create something beautiful. UX is first and foremost most about deeply understanding user needs. A banking card is no different.

Discovery & Mastery
We dove into Client interviews to understand the current sentiment of how clients feel about the banking card. It was originally made gold int he assumption that is looks more expensive. However, this wasn't the case - there was a golden thread in interviews that clients were embarrassed to use the bank card in front of their peers.
So what would make someone proud to pay with the Capitec card, the colour, be embossed, how we presented the logo...

The Results
Through research, both quantitively and qualitatively we discovered a black card was perceived as forward thinking.
We wanted to additionally contrast the logo in logo making this visually pop.
And UX is also about creatively, and so we added a thin strip of colour that would align with being either a credit client or debit client.
